A solid, even evaluation. Motorweek with a light Yorkshire accent.

American cars have bad suspension
(Shocks completely blown out)
Clarkson is old tv, where they ham up stereotypes for laughs. It is funny, and makes for good tv, but accurate is not a word I would use.

Man, he aged like milk.
Many American beasts of that era weren’t exactly handlers, but I can’t think of m any non-tuned British products of the era that were exactly awesome either.

Yeah, exactly. I bet that Lincoln’s still rolling around somewhere... show me a British Leyland product of that era doing the same thing.

I remember watching an early top gear review where he reviewed one of the curvaceous 90s F150s in the UK and just totally misunderstands what people do with pickup trucks. Except I was never able to find it again.
Basically he takes it shopping and has his groceries stolen out of the bed.

I guess the point was that a truck like that sucks at being a car. That it has niche advantages does not make that main conclusion invalid.
That , at least, is what I’m expecting from the video you described.

It’s true, but trucks suck less and less at being a car with every passing year. And their disadvantages are less costly in the US where gas is cheap and roads tend to be wide and distances traveled are long. I wish I could find that video though.

That video kind of supports my expectations.
I bet new US style trucks have fixed some of the issues, but got worse on some others. Size is among the biggest problems I’d imagine.

Most definitely. Backup cameras have hel ped but they are so much harder to see out of now. Older pickups usually have excellent visibility even if they struggle for actual maneuverability.
